Mysuru: Two cops belonging to K R pet police station were suspended by Deputy Commissioner of police (Traffic and crime branch) on October 27 after a departmental enquiry. The cops had demanded bribe from a drunken truck driver who later tried to commit suicide.
Head constable Kumaraswamy and constable Somashekar are the suspended cops after corruption charges were proved against them.

It is gathered, the cops stopped a vegetable laden truck travelling towards Mysuru from Gundlupet on October 19 nights and harassed the driver for a bribe after he was found dunk. Fed up by the related developments the driver tried to hang himself to death.

An enquiry was ordered into the incident under Assistant commissioner of police (Traffic) K N Madiah. The enquiry revealed that the accused cops did not register a complaint and overstayed in the station premises after their duty hours only to extract bribe. Based on this evidence, suspension orders were handed over to both by DCP Rudramuni.
