Mysuru: Various organisations observed University of Mysore bandh on Friday demanding the removal of University of Mysore Vice Chancellor KS Rangappa for his alleged irregularities in Karnataka State Open University during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor. The protestors have also threatened to stage indefinite strike from Tuesday if action was not taken against Rangappa on or before Monday.

Students of various organisations including Research Scholars Organisations, Dalitha Vidyarthi Okkuta, Save University forum and Vidyarthi Basava Balaga staged protest at Manasa Gangotri campus. The protestors raised slogans against vice-chancellor K S Rangappa and urged the authorities to take strict action against him.

Mahesh Sosale, President of Dalitha Vidyarthi Okkuta said, “Rangappa after taking charge as the Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore is having aristocratic rules in the campus and has been favourable to one particular caste. Recently, an FIR was registered by officials against Rangappa and other six persons at Jayalakshmipuram police station for irregularities in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) during his tenure. Even after he is accused of so many irregularities in Universities, no action has been taken against him. We need authorities to take stringent action against Rangappa and remove him from the post of Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore. Governor Vajubhai Vala should interfere and take stringent action against Rangappa against whom no action have been taken even after committee recommended to take action against him.”.

The protestors also came down heavily on Governor Vajubhai Vala. They said that when he can initiate action against VTU Vice Chancellor H Maheshappa and Karnataka University Vice Chancellor HB Walikar, why can’t he take action against University of Mysore Vice Chancellor KS Rangappa who is alleged to have involved in various violation and which is more serious than that of Maheshappa and Walikar.

C Basavaraju, Registrar, in-charge VC Balasubramanian, Registrar (Evaluation) Rajanna and others who visited Manasa Gangotri received memorandum from the protestors. Later, students took out a huge rally till Crawford hall and later submitted a memorandum to Governor through DC to take action against Rangappa.

President of Dalitha Vidyarthi Okkuta Gurumurthy, Mahesh Sosale, President of university research scholars association Gopal, Vidyarthi Basava Balaga President Bharath, President of V V Ulisi horata Vedike K S shivaramu and others were present.
