Mysuru: For nearly five years, the JDS supported the Congress party in the race for the BBMP Mayor’s post. We also supported the Congress in Bagalkot. We, therefore, request the Congress party to make way for the JDS in the race for the Mysuru Mayor’s post, said Mysuru district in-charge minister and senior JDS leader G T Devegowda.

The minister made this statement after inaugurating the state level Khadi Utsav. “We are confident that the Congress party, to whom we have given support in the BBMP and Bagalkot, will definitely support us and make way for the JDS candidate during the Mayoral polls, he said.

Friction seems to be picking up between the Congress and JDS parties as the Mayoral elections in Mysuru draw closer. JDS leaders met with their newly elected corporators at a private hotel a mere day after former chief minister Siddaramaiah met with the newly elected corporators and senior leaders of the Congress party.

Reportedly, Siddaramaiah had given the responsibility of working out a strategy and speaking to the JDS about making way for them in the Mayoral race, to MLA Tanveer Sait and former Mysuru district in-charge minister H C Mahadevappa. Unfortunately for the Congress, however, things are not going their way as the JDS is adamant about contesting in the Mysuru Mayoral post.
