Mysuru: SP Ravi Channannavar has reacted sharply to Mysuru MP Pratap Simha’s tweet alleging that police officers are slaves of ruling party.

Pratap Simha launched a twitter war after he was arrested while taking out Hanuma Jayanthi rally in Hunsur in Mysuru. In a tweet, indirectly targeting Mysuru SP Ravi D Channannavar, Simha asked to accept the fact that strict officers like him are also slaves of ruling party. He also asked the officer to stop giving speeches and learn from Annamalai who has made necessary arrangements ahead of Datta Jayanthi, and also gave examples of DIG Roopa and IAS officer Rashmi.

Reacting to Simha’s tweet, Ravi Channaannavar speaking to reporters said, “Yes, I need to learn from our senior officers, Annamalai and also our constables. We are not perfect and there is a lot to be learnt. We respect the MPs, but we do not work as per somebody’s order. We work as per the Constituion.”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticized Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for barging into a police barricade in Mysuru on Sunday and said his behaviour does not suit his status.

The Chief Minister told reporters here on Sunday, “Being a Lok Sabha member, he should have respect for the law of the land. Neither the state government nor the state police banned Hanuma Jayanti, but the state police had asked the procession organizers to take a detour, which should have been respected by him. Instead he chose to drive rashly and barged into police barricades. It speaks volumes about his culture.”

Prathap Simha was stopped and arrested from taking part in Hanuma Jayanthi rally in Hunsur on Sunday November 3. Enraged BJP and the pro-Hindu activists warned of holding protests. However, Simha was released on Sunday night.

Mysuru district administration has imposed prohibitory orders and declared holiday for schools and colleges.
