Mysuru: The much anticipated Mysuru-Madikeri Highway work would begin by June 2022. The work will be executed by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
According to NHAI sources the project will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3883 Crores. After completion of the project the journey duration from Madikeri-Mysuru will be 90 minutes from the present three hours.
According to the project report, the NHAI would spend Rs. 2733 Crores for construction of road and Rs. 1150 Crores will be spent for compensating land acquiring process. Another major Express way, Bengaluru-Mysuru project will be completed before October 2022, which is taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 8654 Crores.
After completion of Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, the journey duration from Madikeri-Bengaluru will be 3.5 hours from present 6.5 hours. The journey duration from Mangaluru-Bengaluru will also be reduced drastically.
Speaking to News Karnataka, Special Land Acquisition Officer (SLAO) Devaraj told that an office has been opened in Mysuru for this project for acquisition of land for the project. He said that the joint survey by NHAI and revenue officers was conducted for the proposed 6-lane road. He added that a notification was also issued to distribute compensation to land owners in Mysuru and Hunsur taluks. Another notification to Periyapatna and Madikeri taluk will be issued soon.
The proposed road will have entry and exit from Madikeri, Suntikoppa, Kushalnagar, Periyapatna, Hunsur and Mysuru and will be having fencing with wire mesh.
