Mysuru: Yoga helps to overcome stress, promotes balanced mindset and relaxed body said Yoga trainer Raghavendra Pai.
Speaking during state level yoga conference conducted by Yoga Dasara Sub Committee on ‘Management of stress through yoga’ held at Maharaja College centenary hall here on Wednesday he said “Our mind is unpredictable. It doesn’t stay at one thought. To have a fixed mind and to overcome the stress, yoga is the only remedy. Everyone, irrespective of age and gender, should practice yoga. India is the land of Yoga for the world and Mysuru is its Yoga capital. The heritage city boasts of several great yoga exponents who have introduced yoga to the world. Hundreds of people, majority of them foreigners undergo yoga training at Gokulam,”
“Yoga is one of the major contributions of India to the world. Mysuru Maharajas gave lot of importance to yoga. In ‘Sri Tatva’ brought out by Krishnaraja Wadiyar, more than 123 images of yoga have been included. To have physical and mental control and to be strong in all the ways, yoga is essential. To have a fixed mind and to overcome the stress, yoga is the best remedy. If mind is under control it is capable of balancing both happiness and sorrow. Everyone, irrespective of age and gender, should practice yoga.
As part of the conference, T S Sathyanarayana Rao, Psychology department, JSS College, senior medical officer Dr C Harish Babu, Sowmya Mahesh Pandit conducted special sessions on the topic.
Zilla Panchayat president Nayima Sulthana, Taluk panchayat president Kalamma Kemparayamma, Yoga Dasara subcommittee special officer Kala Krishnaswamy, working president M N Nataraj, Secretary B S Seethalakshmi were also present.
