Mysuru: Here are four young Infosys engineers from North Karnataka who during their free time take up a small business. During the Hasiru and Chitra Santhes, the foursome had put up a stall for Girmit business which was a great hit.

The foursome, P Darshan from Yadgir, Praveen Kumar from Gurmitkal, Avinash Desai from Gulbarga and Mallikarjun from Raichur who are working as Developers in Infosys earlier, used to waste time during weekends by just sleeping or going around various places. One day, when they visited the exhibition at Maharaja Ground, the foursome, after seeing few people selling various food items, they pondered why couldn’t they come up with something similar by introducing North Karnataka snacks called ‘Girmit.’ In the beginning, that is, a year back, they invested Rs 60,000 in the venture but underwent loss. They managed to get back only Rs 40,000. However, later they managed to get good business and even started to take bulk orders. They even cater this dish to Infosys sometimes.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, P Darshan said, “We didn’t want to waste our time and hence decided to start this business. The business is going on well and we have encouragement from our organisation as well. If we have bulk orders, we request for work from home and managed to deliver. In days to come, we are planning to have Rotti Mane. If people are ready to work with us, we are ready to train them and even provide them jobs. For each plate, we charge Rs 30.” All four are working in Mysuru Infosys. They made good business during Hasiru and Chitra Santhes organised as part of Winter Festival by the Tourism Department at Krishnaraja Boulevard Road.

S Rangaswamy, Assistant Director, Agriculture Department, Hunsur Taluk, has lauded them and said, “The four youth who are engineers by profession, doing this as their part-time job is really great. Hats off to them. They are an inspiration to many youths especially the unemployed youths of this country. I hope that after seeing this, more youth will take up part-time jobs”.
