Udupi: It is everyone’s responsibility to protect religious establishments as the temples, churches and mosques are places of faith. And if at all illegal structures of this nature needs to be evicted due deliberation and prior intimation is a must, said Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje and added that people’s religious sentiments arevery fragile and it is not a right thing to hurt people’s religious ssntiments as they resort to some sort of protest.
She was speaking to media persons on Friday September 17 after distributing food kits to Koraga families to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday here. I would request State Government to take people into confidence and respect their sentiments before trying to evict such structures, she expressed.
when queried about alleged religious conversions in the region by Christian missionaries, she said that the conversions are happening not only in coastal regions but also across Karnataka. In order to curb this trend, I would request the government to make stricter laws with regard to the same.
