Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra here on Monday August 30 said that the restrictions on people’s movement imposed at the Kerala border will continue as the Covid-19 situation in Kerala has not changed.
According to the sources, he stated that negative RT-PCR test certificates for people entering DK from Kerala is still in effect. He also said that the order is intended to stop the spread of Covid-19, and the district administration will continue with the restrictions.
He further said that more than 30,000 new Covid-19 cases are reported daily in Kerala, with a test positivity rate of 12 percent in Kasaragod district. With a lot of effort, the positive rate in Dakshina Kannada has been dropped to about 2, and lifting border restrictions will be like letting in new cases from Kerala. The district has no choice but to make the RT-PCR certificate mandatory, despite the difficulty of doing so, he stated.
According to reports, on Sunday August 29, the test positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada district decreased to 1.81 percent.
