An Eicher truck transporting paddy from H D Kote to Udupi was destroyed in a fire late on December 28 near Jodupala, close to Arantodu.
The fire broke out suddenly while the truck was on the move. The driver and cleaner noticed sparks, immediately parked the vehicle, and evacuated safely. Within minutes, the flames engulfed the entire truck.
The incident disrupted highway traffic for several hours but fortunately resulted in no injuries.
