Kota Srinivas Poojary, Member of Parliament for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency, has raised serious concerns over delays in the construction of the Santhekatte Underpass, directing a stern warning to National Highway (NH) officials. Despite multiple site visits and directives to expedite the project, Poojary expressed frustration at the prolonged timeline and emphasized the urgent need for completion.

“I have visited the Santhekatte underpass construction site three times and have instructed officials to expedite the work. Delays are unacceptable,” Poojary stated, highlighting his efforts to ensure timely execution and his intention to involve Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for intervention.

Addressing other infrastructure issues, Poojary noted recent delays in the Indrali railway bridge construction due to challenges with MESCOM’s pole relocation, now resolved pending suitable weather conditions for work to resume.

In railway developments, Poojary disclosed ongoing discussions about merging Konkan Railway with Indian Railways and plans to extend Vande Bharat services to Mumbai, with a crucial meeting scheduled for July 22 with central railway officials.

Regarding underpass projects, Poojary confirmed the approval of the Ambalpady underpass tender and ongoing efforts to secure approval for the Katapady underpass. He also emphasized the necessity for service roads along national highways in various areas, pledging to address these infrastructure needs promptly.

Poojary concluded with a firm warning: “If NH officials continue to delay, I will file a written complaint with the NH department.” His commitment remains steadfast in ensuring the timely completion of vital infrastructure projects across his constituency.
