
Udupi: ICYM Shirva Hosts MC Training, Empowers Youth in Public Speaking
Udupi: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Shirva deanery, successfully organized an MC Training Programme on March 2 at Holy Cross Church Hall, Pamboor, aimed at enhancing event hosting and public speaking skills for youth aged 16 to 28.
Dr. Grynal D’Mello, associate professor at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, served as the resource person, delivering an engaging and insightful session. The event commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony, where Josita Mendonca, ICYM Shirva president, welcomed the gathering. Freeda D’Souza, joint secretary, introduced the speaker.
Several dignitaries, including Florine Saldanha, Jackaline Mendonca, and Arwin Saldanha, attended the programme. Jeevan, ICYM Shankerpura president, efficiently compered the session and gave the vote of thanks.
The training kicked off with action songs, setting an interactive and energetic tone. Dr. Grynal covered key aspects such as public speaking, audience engagement, time management, body language, and script preparation, using real-world examples to make learning effective.
With 50 enthusiastic participants, the event proved highly beneficial, boosting confidence and communication skills. The session concluded with a memento presentation to Dr. Grynal and a felicitation ceremony for the sponsors.
The event, guided by Fr. Arnold Mathias and Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, reaffirmed ICYM Shirva Deanery’s commitment to youth empowerment.
