Haarish Mohammed Udupi's Wildlife Photographer Wins International Recognition

Haarish Mohammed, originally from Udupi and currently residing in Saudi Arabia, has achieved international acclaim by winning the Black and White category of the prestigious photography competition organized by 35 Awards. This global contest attracted 465,000 entries from 111,253 photographers across 174 countries.

Reflecting on his journey, Haarish shared his deep-rooted passion for nature and wildlife, nurtured since childhood and solidified during college years spent trekking the Western Ghats. His career path led him to Saudi Arabia in 2011, where he initially pursued photography as a serious endeavor after dedicating extensive time to learning its intricacies.

Despite challenges posed by his job, Haarish persisted, aided by a supportive community of photographers called Photomates in Saudi Arabia. His dedication paid off, and after returning to India during the COVID-19 pandemic, he ventured into wildlife photography more intensely, capturing stunning images in national parks like Nagarhole, Kabini, and Bhadra.

Haarish’s winning photograph, taken in Kabini during an evening safari, captures a solitary tusker emerging from dense forest, encapsulating the essence of wildlife in its natural habitat.

His accolades include features in BBC Earth and international publications like PawsTrails, alongside numerous awards in prestigious photography competitions. His work not only showcases the beauty of animals but also advocates for wildlife conservation, emphasizing the importance of protecting their natural habitats.
