Ramesh Makatkar, a tailor by profession in Hiregutti, tragically succumbed to a heart attack while en route to Kumta on Wednesday due to health complications. With no immediate heirs present, his body was at the district mortuary.

The task of locating his family was initially challenging as all documents found, including his mobile and bank passbook, pointed solely towards Hiregutti. However, with perseverance and determination, they were able to retrieve crucial information from Ramesh’s PAN card. By utilizing this information and coordinating with relevant authorities, they successfully traced an address in Peen, Bengaluru.

Upon contacting this address, it was revealed that Ramesh had been working in Bangalore for several years after leaving home a decade ago due to financial losses. His wife and children had tirelessly searched for him during this time without success.

Following their timely notification about Ramesh’s demise by the Gokarna police, his wife and children rushed to the district hospital where they identified his body. Subsequently, they took possession of it for transportation back home to Bangalore.

This successful effort by the Gokarna Police showcases their dedication towards ensuring that even those without immediate family receive proper closure during such unfortunate events.
