Centre Seeks Report from Karnataka Government on Death of Police Sub-Inspector Parashuram
The Central Government has sought a detailed report from the Karnataka government regarding the death of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Parashuram, who was found dead on August 3 at his residence in Yadgir, North Karnataka. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed the Karnataka government to thoroughly investigate the matter and submit the findings to the Ministry at the earliest.
Union Minister for Labour, Shobha Karandlaje, had previously written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident. She raised concerns about delays in filing the First Information Report (FIR), allegedly due to pressure from a local MLA and his son. Karandlaje emphasized the importance of an impartial investigation to maintain the morale of the police force.
PSI Parashuram, who was recently transferred from Yadgir Town police station to CEN police station, was found dead after attending his farewell party. His wife, Shweta, has filed a complaint alleging that her husband faced pressure from the Yadgir MLA and his son to pay money in order to retain his position as PSI at the Yadgir Town police station. An FIR has been registered based on her complaint, and further investigations are underway.
