Kerala Secretariat employees sing praises for CM Vijayan amid controversy
Despite ongoing discussions, the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association went ahead with a song lauding Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The song, performed by 100 employees, was already underway when the Chief Minister arrived at the Central Stadium for the inaugural event after unveiling the association’s golden jubilee building at Oottukuzhy. Vijayan chose to wait for the song’s completion before addressing the gathering.
During his speech, Vijayan expressed his relief at hearing the praise, as he often faces criticism. “It is a relief when someone creates a song in praise, especially when I am constantly under attack,” he remarked.
In a related development, the state government reportedly provided a post for the song’s writer, Chitrasenan, despite his retirement. Chitrasenan, a former clerical assistant, has been reappointed as a special messenger in the finance department. He had submitted a reappointment request on April 25 last year, but his appointment was processed a day earlier, on April 24. The reappointment was reportedly pushed through by an official affiliated with a Left-wing organization.
Additionally, Chitrasenan, although a retired employee, has been given a government vehicle and a driver, privileges typically reserved for department heads and IAS officials, raising questions about the transparency of the process.
