
Labourer’s daughter tops Telangana Junior Lecturer exam
Taslima Fathima (26), daughter of a daily-wage labourer at a civil supplies godown in Sadasivapet, has secured first rank in Telangana’s Junior Lecturer (Zoology) recruitment exam.
A resident of Ishrathabad, Fathima will now begin her journey as a lecturer at the Government Junior College in her hometown. Her father, SK Babumiya, who toiled for over 30 years, recalled the financial hardships he endured to educate his children.
Despite studying in Urdu medium until Class X, Fathima transitioned to English medium for her intermediate studies at Indo British Junior College, Sadasivapet. She later pursued graduation at Women’s College, Koti, securing sixth rank in TSPGCET, which led her to a postgraduate degree in Zoology at Osmania University.
Less than two years after completing her post-graduation, she clinched the top rank in the state recruitment exam following the government’s job notification.
Fathima, speaking to Telangana Today, expressed her passion for teaching and her commitment to giving back to her community. She also aspires to pursue a PhD and become a professor in the future.
