Whether in the UK, where the Glastonbury Festival is held, or in the rest of the world, the impact of festivals is hard to ignore. Here is an insight into how Glastonbury is built.

There’s no denying that Glastonbury’s scale is something to behold hence why it involves a lot of planning. Betway Online Casino recently investigated Glastonbury’s feat as a premier entertainment delivery source. In conversation with Sally Howell, Betway’s investigations reveal the amount of planning and resources invested into Glastonbury. For instance, Sally’s team at Croissant Neuf, one of Glastonbury’s experiences, begins planning immediately after the show ends. The planning process runs through until the next Glastonbury.

Building Experiences With Stages

Glastonbury’s Festival site spans over nine hundred acres. Its land area would pass as the 27th largest city in the UK. But the site’s vast size is something you’d barely notice because of how different areas have been well-crafted and designed.

The festival grounds hold about a hundred different stages and venues, serving multiple entertainment forms from live music to comedy. Some of the main ones include Pyramid Place, Acoustic Stage, Sacred Spaces, and the Kidzfield. According to seasoned attendees, each stage presents an ultimate Glastonbury experience and can pass as a mini-festival with an in-depth itinerary to play the part.

Construction and Workforce

According to the workforce behind Glastonbury’s majestic implementation, sleep is a rare occurrence a few days before and after the showdown. The workforce is decentralized according to each area or stage, and different teams work independently. For instance, Block 9, where a lot of the Glastonbury parties happen, recently launched its IICON project.

The stage alone, which has a metallic head, takes about three months to build.

The team behind the project comprises about a thousand members with different professional backgrounds, including engineers, riggers, etc. The festival’s construction processes and teams are as endless as patrons’ expectations for each edition.

Croissant Neuf’s set fosters a sense of togetherness and community living through green spaces. Compared to other areas, Sally’s set has a garden, pond, and a seating area making it one of the calmest and green areas at Glastonbury.

How does a festival audience the size of Glastonbury’s receive 3G and 4G internet service?

There is a permanent site on the festival grounds providing internet all year. However, the organizers ramp up preparations to cater to the influx during the festival week. The temporary sites have 1000 meters of cabling that link up to 12 antennas per site.

The team manning these temporal sites are about 20 engineers, working day and night. The team uses microwave dishes linking back to underground fiber connections at the festival’s permanent site.

The festival’s network capacity carries more than 80 terabytes of data to serve its bulging audience year in and year out.

Generally, Glastonbury Festival transcends music and can be your best bet if you need a once-in-a-year outdoor high. And the experience never gets boring. You may enjoy it more now that you know the backstory behind some of the mysterious installations and how organizers manage to pull the festival off.
