Live bullet found in boot sole of Abu Dhabi-bound flyer at Coimbatore airport
In a surprising security breach at Coimbatore International Airport on Sunday, a live bullet was found lodged in the sole of a passenger’s boot during routine screening by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The passenger, 48-year-old Shibu Mathew from Nedumbassery, Kerala, was preparing to board an IndiGo flight to Abu Dhabi scheduled for 2:25 PM. During the security scan, CISF personnel noticed a 0.22 mm live round embedded in the tread of his boot’s outer sole.
Shibu, who has been employed with an insurance company in Abu Dhabi for the past decade, expressed shock and claimed he was unaware of how the bullet ended up in his footwear.
Following protocol, CISF officials stopped him from boarding and handed him over to Peelamedu police. Authorities have registered a case, and a detailed investigation is currently in progress.
