Puttur: In the recent times it is a common scene in the Town that the water from underground drainage comes on to main road. As a result of this the Public Works Department (PWD) has begun slapping fines on people blocking the roadside drains.
It is come to notice that many people in residential areas have built connecting roads and thus many drains have been closed for the purpose, resulting in artificial floods. The PWD Department had urged people to reverse the problem created but to no avail. And hence now the Department has begun penalising the offenders. It has has ordered action on the offenders under the State Highway Act of 1964.
Such problems are mostly seen on Puttur – Kadaba route. Also two-wheeler users have great problem commuting in heavy rains.
