Puttur: Two inter-state chain snatchers arrested

Puttur: Puttur Rural Police has arrested two inter-state chain snatchers.

The two arrested have been identified as Faizal (29), a resident of Bambrana, Kumble, Kasaragod, and Abdul Nizar (19), a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Colony, Sitangoli.

Ratna, a woman resident of Churipada, Nidnalli Village under Puttur Rural Police station while returning to her home Konadka in Bettampadi Village from Renja, she was waylaid by two persons on a red motorcycle, who snatched her mangalasutra and fled the scene. A special team led by Udayaravi M. Y. arrested the two accused.

When the accused were taken into custody and interrogated, a gold jewellery worth Rs. 50,000, a FZ bike stolen from Badiyadka Police Station and a Red Royal Enfield bike used for the thefts were recovered.

Several theft cases have been registered against Faizal in Ullala, Manjeshwar, Kumble, Badiyadka and Police Stations of Mangaluru.

When the accused were interrogated further, they admitted that earlier in 2019, they had committed theft at a petrol pump owned by Jagannath Shetty in Kuddupada under the jurisdiction of Vittal Police stations, goods tempo theft case in Kashimatha under the jurisdiction of Vittal Police Station and theft of a woman’s necklace on bypass road under the jurisdiction of Puttur Town poylice Station.
