Man lies to school authorities and kidnaps neighbor’s child
A seven-year-old girl in Raichur district was allegedly subjected to kidnap and abuse by her 38-year-old neighbor on Wednesday afternoon. The accused, a deaf and mute electrician known to the child’s family, has been taken into custody along with the school manager for negligence.
According to police, the accused arrived at a private convent school around 3 PM, falsely claiming that the girl’s mother had asked him to pick her up early for a family function. Trusting his words, school authorities allowed the child to leave after she confirmed knowing him.
Instead of escorting her home, he took her to an isolated area near Manvi bus stand, where the incident occurred. When she did not return at the expected time, her family raised an alarm, prompting an investigation and the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday night.
The 35-year-old school manager was also detained for failing to verify the claim before releasing the child. Both individuals were booked under relevant child protection laws and remanded to judicial custody.
The victim is receiving medical care at Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and is reported to be stable. The case has triggered widespread outrage, with demands for stricter safety measures in schools. Authorities have assured a thorough probe.
