The Chikkaballapur District Sessions Court sentenced Raju Das to life imprisonment for abducting a 14-year-old girl and committing crimes against her in June 2020. The court ruled that he would remain in prison for the rest of his natural life.
Raju, a known acquaintance of the victim’s family, used his visits to their home to build trust and lure her. On June 25, 2020, he took her in an autorickshaw to a remote location and later to a house in Madanapalli, where further offenses occurred.
The victim’s mother noticed her absence and reported it to the Kencharlahalli police, who quickly located the girl in Madanapalli and reunited her with her family. Raju was arrested and charged under multiple laws, including those addressing offenses against children.
During the trial, Raju obtained interim bail but fled to a neighboring state. Police eventually apprehended him in June 2023 and placed him in judicial custody until his conviction on Wednesday.
The court’s judgment ensures justice for the victim and underscores the commitment to protecting children.
