Mandya: For the first time this year, 30,000 cusecs of water have been released into Tamil Nadu from the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam in Mandya.

The KRS dam is located in the KRS village of the Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya.

Owing to the flooding of the Cauvery river, following the heavy rainfalls Kodagu, the inflow into the dam has increased substantially. Another major tributary of the river, Hemavati is also witnessing heavy flow due to the heavy rainfalls in the Chikkamagalur and Hassan districts.

The Mandya district administration decided to release water as the reserves are touching the 50,000 cusecs mark.

Meanwhile, over 60,000 cusecs of water has been released from the Kabini dam in HD Kote.
