Mandya: In response to the government’s lockdown to monitor the spread of the virus across the state, it was witnessed majority have adhered to the guidelines. All the shopping centres are closed as per order with purchases of essentials allowed between 6 am and 10 am.

At K R Pete, the shops voluntarily closed after 10 am, while in other cases, the shops were forced to close due to police arrival. Banks have been told to maintain social distancing. Except for medical stores, there were no other stores open after 11 am due to curfew.

No unpleasant incidents took place as the police bandhobast was effectively implemented within the town. People going for Covid testing, and government offices were seen plying on the road. There were scenes where in some people just got out of their house with no tangible work and were advised and penalised by the police for the same.

The people who were adjusted to two-day weekend curfew are already accustomed to Janata Curfew. Many people finished their morning chores and returned home well before time. Vehicles are seldom seen plying on the roads.
