She was discussing this topic during the district level meet of executive committee on district child labour action plan.
She told officers that a plan should be made which includes awareness campaign against child labour system and its legal implications.
“Plans should be made to rescue child labours from each and every place as per the list mentioned in the child labour act and bring them to mainstream society through special residential schools, healthcare and accommodation.”
Campaigns at bus stands, schools and colleges, wall arts, graffiti, rallies and such other effective ways should be adopted for the said purposes, she urged officers.
To take census of child labourers there should be teams lead by nodal officers and PDOs, secretary, village accountant at panchayat level to get grass root data, she added. She informed officers to join hand in removing the child labourers in the district by mentioning that there are more number of children from north Karnataka, hired to work in districts quarries, crushers, local sugar extraction centres, sugar fields and so on.
