Mandya: Srirangapatna Dasara, which is as famous as the Mysuru Dasara itself will see a major change this year.
All these years this Dasara was celebrated for ten days. However, this year due to Covid-19, it has been decided to celebrate this Dasara for just one day-October 23.
A decision in this regard was taken at the Dasara meeting on Monday which was chaired by district in-charge minister KC Narayana Gowda.
Mandya DC Dr VM Venkatesh informed that the Dasara will be inaugurated by the Covid-19 warriors. A poura karmika, teacher, police constable, lab technician, ASHA worker, and doctor from each taluk of the district will inaugurate the event. Later they will be felicitated.
Priest Bhanu Prakash Sharma informed that the Dasara procession will start at 3 pm on October 23.
It can be recalled that this year Mysuru and Madikeri Dasara too will be held as a low key affair.
