Mangaluru: Mild tremors lasting for around 30 seconds was felt at light house, hill road, Bavuta Gudde at 11.50 am in the city, on Saturday April 25.
According to Kiran, who works at Maximus complex in the area, a mild earthquake shook the chairs and furniture in his office. On the other hand, many others rushed out of their respective offices around the locality, in panic.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Department of Mining and Geology – deputy director – Rammappa said, “It has not yet been reported however there are chance that a mild tremors could have been happened.”
He further said that however it may not be over 1 to 2 Magnitudes and for major impact to happen the earthquake must at least cross 6 Magnitude.
As per the reports minor tremors were felt in Manipal, Udupi, Kochi and other neighbouring southern regions as well.
It may also be noted a powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 has struck west of the Nepali capital Kathmandu this morning, while the entire North India felt the same.
