Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Qazi Al-Haj Thwaqa Ahmed Musliyar on the evening of Monday April 12 confirmed that the crescent moon for the holy month of Ramadhan was sighted in Dakshina Kannada.
Ramadan, a Muslim holiday that spans the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, will run from April 13 to May 12 this year. Last year during Ramadan, the pandemic altered observances as the mosques were shuttered and community gatherings were eliminated.
Muslims this year are planning another holiday of modified celebrations as covid continues to spread, even while people are being vaccinated.
