Mangaluru: Dr. Rajendra KV has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district. He has been transferred from the post of Belagavi Zilla Panchayat CEO.
He will take charge from Sindhu Roopesh, who has been transferred as Director of the Electronic Delivery of Citizens’ Services (EDCS), DA&AR, Bengaluru.
She had taken charge as the DC of Dakshina Kannada in September 2019, after the then DC Sasikanth Senthil tendered his resignation and quit the civil service.
A doctor, who hails from a village near Thirthahalli, Dr. Rajendra had made the state proud by bagging 32nd rank in the 2013 civil service examination.
The transfer of Sindhu Roopesh before she even completed one year in office has sparked a sense of debate and as per sources, her recent statement to take stern action against those attacking cattle transporters has led to this transfer.
Meanwhile, screenshot of a whatsapp chat has been making rounds, where one user is seen commenting that the DC must be ‘first chopped into pieces’. The comment came in after the DC asking the police to take stern action against the cattle transporters and the district police is probing the same.
The transfer comes at a time when the Dakshina Kannada district registered 2,672 active COVID-19.
