Mangaluru: The covid-19 infection is on the rise in the state and everyone should follow the guidelines issued by the government, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Rajendra K.V.
He was addressing a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority held at his office on Saturday, April 10.
“The number of cases of covid infection is on the rise in the state, and the government is setting new guidelines to control it,” he said. He added that the health department should identify and treat infected people by increasing the number of covid tests taken.
“Social distancing, mask wearing and following curfew rules are mandatory.” He further added that violators would be strictly punished.
“Corona’s curfew under the Disaster Management Act has been implemented from today, April 10 to April 20 from 10 pm to 5 am.” He said that only certain essential services were allowed in this case and all other services and traffic were prohibited.
He said that travelling is allowed for medical services and for those suffering from various health related problems. He added that staff at telecom, internet service organizations and IT based organizations could travel by night with office identification cards.
“All the factories, companies and corporations that operate nightly have been allowed to operate as usual.”
“The PDOs, Asha workers and Anganwadi workers in the village panchayat should take care of covid-infected persons and they should be monitored while on home isolation. They should also be advised to get covid vaccination for persons over 45 years of age.”
“All district and taluk hospitals have been instructed to keep the inventory free of shortage of paraphernalia needed to treat covid infected people.”
He said that two Home Guards should be assigned to the district check posts and the Covid Negative Report should be brought by the persons coming to this district from other states and districts.
Deputy Superintendent of Police M J Rupa, Superintendent of Police Rishikesh, and Akshay Sridhar, Commissioner of the Corporation were present.
