Farmers allege MRPL’s chemical-laced water affected their paddy field

Suratkal: The two farmers of Soorinje and Kuttethur alleged that the Chemical water of MRPL has affected their paddy field.

Speaking to News Karnataka farmer Prakash Shetty of Bolara said that he and another farmer had sown paddy sprouted from agriculture department. The seed sown by two farmers has burned and gone black,” he said.

“The wastewater of MRPL flowing near Mudapada has mixed up with the groundwater due to the rains and might affect the crops. Two people from the agriculture department have arrived and collected soil and water sample,” he added.

While Rudolph Noronha, PRO of MRPL said, instead of spreading rumours the farmers can complain to the Karnataka State Pollution Board. We will send our personnel with them to collect the soil and water sample and take necessary actions further in this regard, he said.
