Mangaluru: Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatan D. K. District President Subhodaya Alva said “Being a responsible party Indian National Congress (INC) has extended its helping hand to aid the citizens amid pandemic.”
Speaking at the press meet here on Friday June 4 he said, “Gandhiji had a dream of gram swaraj, where the village became a self-sustaining unit and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi worked in this regard to make it a reality. All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi has started this Sanghatan. Last month President of Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghanatan, former MP Meenakshi Natarajan has instructed to appoint 2 people in each village to collect the information of Covid-infected people.
According to her instructions, the appointments are made and we are getting reliable data from them. The INC task force is providing ambulances, food kits, and medical kits to the needy. “Central and state government has failed to control the surge in Covid cases, they have been trying to escape from their duties,” he charged.
Expressing anguish over the additional relief package announced by Chief Minster Yediyurappa he said, “the government has announced only Rs 2000 to 3000 for the Asha workers and Anganwadi workers in relief package, which is insufficient. Government must provide at least Rs 10,000 to each as a relief. The ministers instead of controlling pandemic crisis are performing funeral rites of unclaimed bodies, he said.
