Recoveries outnumber new COVID cases as active cases breach 4k mark

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district, on Tuesday, September 15, registered 316 new cases and five COVID-19 deaths.

Of the five dead, three are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, and one is from Puttur. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 18,092 while 4,034 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 452.

As many as 322 patients were discharged. Of these, 120 were quarantined at home and 202 were being treated in various hospitals of the district.

Among the 316 new cases, 148 are from Mangaluru alone, 44 are from Bantwal, 42 are from Puttur, 20 are from Sullia, 37 are from Belthangady and 25 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 186 of the new cases are symptomatic (117 men and 69 women) while the remaining 130 are asymptomatic (62 men and 68 women).

Of the 316 cases, 108 persons have contact history, 166 have influenza-like illnesses, 11 are SARI patients, and 31 are under investigation.
