Retd soldier dies in road accident

Mangaluru: A retired soldier on a scooter was hit by a lorry and died on spot in Manjeshwara, Kasargod on Wednesday, March 31.

The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Uppar (41), son of retired forest guard Damodar and Leelavati, Native of Kanarpa, a village in Kadirudiyavara village, Belthangady taluk.

Dinesh, after completing his primary education in Kadirudiyavara and Mundaje, had settled in Manjeshwar Udyavar Guthu of Kasargod district.

Dinesh married to Sujata of was Kumble, has two daughters Vaishnavi and Vaishubhi.

Dinesh served in places like Hyderabad, Assam, Jammu, Nashik, and Coimbatore for 18 years. After his retirement, he worked as a security guard at a gas supply company in Mangalore. On Wednesday morning, a lorry from behind hit his scooter.

Although the lorry escaped without stopping at the scene of the accident, the police seized the lorry at the toll gate. A case has been registered at Manjeshwar police station.
