Bantwal: Three teams have been formed to nab the killers of actor Surendra Bantwal, who was hacked to death in his flat in Bantwal by miscreants.

His dead body was found in his residence on Wednesday.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Dr Lakshmi Prasad, who visited the apartment, later held a discussion with DySP Valentine D’Souza, SIs Nandakumar and Prasanna with regard to the case.

He told the reporters that three teams led by the DySP, SI (Belthnagady) and Bantwal Rural SI have been formed to nab the culprits.

He further said that the actor may have been murdered on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and the police is collecting details about his businesses too.

“We have received details that two persons had visited his flat on Tuesday night, after the actor reached home. One of the vistors was a friend of Surendra Bantwal. The duo left the house late in the night,” said the SP adding that when the police reached the spot, his body was found on the sofa with multiple injuries, while an old bag was found next to the dead body.

Surendra Bantwal had acted in Tulu as well as Kannada films. The police said that Surendra had around 15 criminal cases against him.

In 2018, the actor had been arrested for attacking two party workers of the BJP with a machete and the video of the assault had gone viral.
