Mangaluru: Former MLA’s Brother Goes Missing, Search Operation Underway
Mumtaz Ali, the 52-year-old brother of former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, has gone missing, sparking a large-scale search operation after his car was found abandoned and damaged near Kuloor Bridge in Mangaluru on Sunday morning. Authorities, including the fire and emergency services, are conducting an extensive search in the river, fearing that Ali may have jumped from the bridge.
Panambur police were alerted about a black BMW near the bridge, leading them to discover that it belonged to Mumtaz Ali. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Ali had left his house around 3 a.m. and was last seen driving across the city. His car was found with visible damage, and his sudden disappearance prompted his daughter to contact the police.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal, along with former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, visited the scene to oversee the ongoing search efforts, assisted by the SDRF and Coast Guard teams. The investigation is still in progress.
