
Mangaluru Police Bust Drug Racket, Arrest Five with 70 Grams of MDMA
In a major breakthrough, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested five individuals involved in the sale and transportation of the banned substance MDMA. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid near Nettillapadavu, under the Konaje police station limits, leading to the seizure of 70 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 3,50,000. Along with the drugs, authorities confiscated five mobile phones, Rs 1,460 in cash, and a digital weighing scale. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 4,25,500.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Shakir (24) from Shivamogga, Hassan Ashir (34) from Manjeshwar, Riyaz AK (31) from Kannur, Mohammed Naushad (22) from Kasargod, and Yasin Imraj alias Imbu (35) from Manjeshwar. Notably, Hassan Ashir and Yasin Imraj have prior criminal records, including drug-related offenses in Manjeshwar and Bengaluru.
The operation was carried out by a team led by CCB Assistant Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Naik, supported by inspector Shyam Sundar HM, PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, and other personnel. The suspects had been allegedly selling MDMA to students and the public in Mangaluru city.
Cases have been registered at Konaje police station, and the arrested individuals are now in police custody. The police have vowed to continue their crackdown on drug trafficking networks, especially targeting those exploiting youth and students in the region.
