
“Mangaluru Police Foil Gang Attack, Nab Wanted Criminal”
In a major success, the Mangaluru Crime Control Bureau (CCB) arrested Dawood (43), a notorious rowdy-sheeter with a long record of violent crimes, near Talapady-Devipura Road on Friday, November 22. A resident of Dharmanagar, Ullal, Dawood was allegedly scheming to target members of a rival gang when law enforcement intervened.
The operation, led by PSI Narendra, was based on precise intelligence. The officers acted decisively but faced strong resistance from Dawood, who attacked them with a machete. PSI Narendra and other personnel sustained injuries during the confrontation. Despite this, the police successfully overpowered Dawood and transported him to Ullal police station for further investigation.
A case has been registered against Dawood under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the BNS Act, 2023. His arrest marks a significant step in curbing gang violence in the region.
Known as a habitual offender, Dawood’s criminal history includes murder, extortion, and assaults across Ullal, Mangaluru South, and Bajpe. His activities have been a source of unrest in these areas, making his apprehension a major breakthrough in maintaining law and order.
This operation underscores the bravery and swift action of the police in tackling organized crime despite the risks involved.
