Another landslide has occurred between Edakumeri and Kadavagaralli near Shiradi Ghat, leading to the closure of train services between Bengaluru and Mangaluru for a week. This disruption has resulted in the cancellation of fourteen trains, with repair work being carried out by 700 workers. The Railway Department has announced that train services on this route will be suspended until August 4.

The landslide near Thanogal, close to the Edakumeri railway station, has significantly impacted train services to Kerala, Murudeshwar, and Mangaluru. Affected trains include:

  • Train No. 16512 Kannur – Bangalore Express (cancelled from July 30 to August 3)
  • Train No. 07378 Mangalore Central – Vijayapura Special Express (cancelled from July 30 to August 4)
  • Train No. 07377 Vijayapura – Mangalore Central Express (cancelled from July 30 to August 4)
  • Train No. 16585 Sir M. Visveswaraiah Terminal Bangalore – Murdeshwar Express (cancelled from July 29 to August 3)

  • Train No. 16596 Karwar – Bangalore Panchganga Express (cancelled from July 30 to August 4)

The cancellation of these services has led to a spike in flight ticket prices between Bengaluru and Mangaluru, with fares rising from the usual Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000.

Additionally, a major landslide occurred on National Highway 75 in the Shiradi Ghat Yattinahalla-Sakaleshpura sector on Saturday, causing vehicles to be stuck on either side. Highway department staff are working to clear the mud using earthmoving machines, with roads expected to be cleared by late Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
