
Mass food poisoning scare at Telangana colleges leaves students vomiting overnight
A significant number of students fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after consuming dinner on the premises of a college in Kuntloor, located under Hayath Nagar police station in Rangareddy district, authorities confirmed on Monday.
Inspector of Hayath Nagar police station stated, “We received reports that students of Narayana College, Kuntloor, started experiencing health issues after eating aloo kurma and chapati for dinner. However, the college administration maintains that the food was safe. No formal grievances have been lodged by students or parents yet. If complaints arise, we will proceed with necessary measures.”
Nearly half of the students who had dinner on Sunday night developed symptoms such as persistent vomiting. Many started feeling uneasy around midnight, with some requiring immediate medical care. The campus houses between 800 and 900 students, and almost half were reportedly affected. The situation has triggered alarm among students and faculty. Investigations are underway to ascertain the root cause.
One of the students shared, “People started throwing up continuously, and some became sick overnight. Almost half the campus was affected.”
In a similar incident, 18 students from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar, were hospitalized after consuming hostel food. The institution initially arranged for medical aid on campus before transferring critical cases to the hospital.
Authorities are closely monitoring both cases.
