Medical Student Found Dead in Chitradurga Hostel Room
Chitradurga: Manoj KL, a 22-year-old second-year student at Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital, was discovered hanging in his hostel room on Thursday morning. Hailing from Channarayapatna in Hassan, Manoj is survived by his parents, elder brother, and sister. His father, Lakshmish, is an agriculturalist.
A suicide note written in Kannada was recovered, stating: “I am unable to pursue my education. I am responsible for my death.” Manoj’s classmates, concerned after receiving no response from his locked door, peeped through the window and found him hanging.
Lakshmish expressed shock, revealing that Manoj had never mentioned facing academic pressure. “I spoke to him Tuesday and his mother the day later. Manoj told her he would come home on the weekend,” he told the media.
According to classmates, Manoj appeared disturbed on Wednesday. In an attempt to lift his spirits, they took him for coffee that evening. One friend even offered to stay with Manoj in his room, but he declined, citing personal issues.
