Date : 17-09-2015

Bengaluru: Three drunken men assaulted a police constable and also made him consume alcohol in a public place near the Benniganahalli flyover in Rammurthy on Wednesday.

According to the police the incident took place at around 8 pm in a park on Wednesday. On the day of the incident, Pundelekka(25), who is deputed at the Rammurthy Nagar police station was returning home on his bike after finishing his duty in the OMBR Layout in Kasturi Nagar. When he dropped in at a tea stall near the Benniganahalli flyover, a local informed him about some anti-social elements creating a ruckus in a park nearby.

Immediately, he entered the park and saw three men drinking alcohol and creating a ruckus. He ordered the tri to leave immediately as it was a public place. The three drunk men refused to leave and instead asked the police constable to back off, which led to an argument. Enraged, the miscreants turned violent and began attacking the cop with liquor bottles and stones, leaving him injured.

However, a few passers-by rushed to constable’s rescue and he was taken to Hosmat Hospital. Later, locals sent an alert to the police station.

The Rammurthynagar police have registered a case under section 332 of the IPC (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and have launched a massive manhunt to nab the three accused.
