Miffed with husband, wife kills five-yr-old daughter

Pandavapura: Miffed with her husband, a woman allegedly killed her five-year-old daughter. The gruesome incident took place in Beerashettahalli on Saturday, December 19.

The deceased is Pratheeksha (5), daughter of Girish and Latha. She was a UKG student at Nirmala Convent here.

Girish runs a bakery in Chikkabyadarahalli. On Saturday, as it was holiday for the girl, Girish decided to take her to the bakery. However, Latha did not want Pratheeksha to accompany her father. Upset with this, Girish is said to have left to work alone after a verbal clash.

In sometime, Latha allegedly strangled her daughter with a shawl and then pressed a pillow against her mouth. The girl died due to asphyxiation. She then went to a pharmacy to get pills to kill herself. However, the pharmacy staff is said to have refused to give her the pills. Latha also tried to hang herself, but did not succeed.

She later visited a hospital complaining that her daughter was unwell. As the doctors confirmed that Pratheeksha was dead, she complained to Pandavapura police that her husband Girish had killed their daughter.

On investigation, the truth is said to have come to light.

Latha was produced before the court and was remanded to judicial custody.
