Postpone exam for UG courses: Karnataka varsity students

Date : 13-10-2017

Dharwad: The students belonging to various educational institutions and led by the district unit of Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest rally demanding the postponement of the examination for undergraduate courses of Karnataka University.

The rally commenced at Karnataka College, Dharwad (KCD) and a protest demonstration was held in front of the vice chancellor’s office at the university campus.

The protesters said the university had turned a blind eye towards the plight of the students and this had ignited a sense of fear among degree students.

Even before knowing whether the syllabus for this academic year had been completed or not, the university has blindly declared the schedule for the examination and has also issued exam notification to this effect, they said.

As majority of the degree colleges affiliated to Karnataka University are facing shortage of permanent teaching faculty, the show is run by guest lecturers who are unable to complete the syllabus on time, they lamented.

“This year too, the syllabus has not been completed in many institutions and before consulting the degree college teaching faculty, the university has unanimously released the time-table for the examination. This has created confusion among the students,” protesters said.

Announcement of the time-table much before the scheduled time will have an impact on the results, they feared.
