Lucknow: “We have identified the main accused in Lucknow rape, mutilation and murder case. His name is Ram Sewak Yadav, a security guard” ADG, women’s cell, Sutapa Sanyal said at a press conference in Lucknow today.
Sanyal said that Yadav lured the 32-year-old victim, who stayed in apartment close to the under-construction building where he was employed as a security guard. “The woman was looking for an apartment. On July 16, Yadav called the woman to Mohanlalganj where he assaulted her in the private parts and the woman died because of excessive bleeding,” Sanyal said.
“The facts prove that this was not a gang-rape, this was a one-man operation,” she added. Ms Sanyal also said that the accused has a criminal history.
Police say the 32-year-old victim, used to work in a prestigious hospital in the city. Her husband died three years ago after a prolonged illness.
The naked, badly-mutilated body of the woman, a mother of two, was found near a primary school in Mohanlalganj on the outskirts of the city on Thursday morning. Post-mortem revealed that the woman was killed on Wednesday. The report said that the woman had died due to hemorrhage caused by multiple injuries – 12 including on her private parts – but did not confirm rape. But the nature of the injuries sustained qualifies as rape under a tough new law which was framed last year following the brutal gang-rape of a student on a moving bus in Delhi in 2012. She died later.
Already, six policemen have been suspended over an alleged delay in action against in the case.
