Mangaluru: On 8-4-2022 and 9-4-2022, the Department of Mental Health Nursing in collaboration with the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College and Arivu Early Intervention Centre, Shakthinagar had conducted Autism Awareness week/ Month Program in Arivu Early Intervention Centre, Shakthinagar. Poornima R K Bhat, Administrator and Counsellor, Arivu Early Intervention Centre welcomed all to the program.
Dr Sham S Bhat, Chair of Autism Board FSCD and Vice Principal, Yenepoya Dental College spoke about the occasion and briefed about the significance of the program. Dr Karuna, Briefed about Diet and Oral Health care.
Dental Checkup was done for around 40 children. An Autism Awareness Program was conducted by Dr Ravichandra Karkal, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Yenepoya Medical College and Hospital on” Sleep Problems in Children with Autistic spectrum Disorders”. The awareness program included role-play and various activities conducted by III year Bsc and Msc Nursing Students.
Arivu Students performed a cultural program. Certificates and prizes were given to all the students. Dr Sundeep Hegde, Dr Reshma Suvarna, Faculty, Yenepoya Dental College, Dr Karuna, Autism Board member FSCD, Muthuraj, Co-Founder, Sarvamangala Trust, Kishor Kottary, Corporator Padavu, Shakeela Kawa, Corporator Kadri, Vanitha Prasad, Corporator Shakthinagar, Dr Radhakrishna Bhat, Trustee, Arivu Trust, Bharath, Dental Coordinator, Dr S Kavya, Post Graduate, Oral Pathology Department and others were present for the Program.
