Date : 15-06-2022

Mysuru: A blood donation camp was organised under the aegis of School of Planning and Architecture of the University of Mysore (UoM) and Lions Jeevanidhi Blood Bank Centre at UoM premises to mark World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme UoM Registrar Professor Shivappa said, “Youth should get involved in social service. They should voluntarily donate blood. Blood donation is like giving a second chance in life to a person. Many people have the misconception that blood donation causes health issues. We must create awareness among the people that if a healthy person donates blood, it will not cause any harm to the individual.”

Every year on June 14, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated across the globe. The day was created to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and to support blood transfusion services, blood donor organisations and other non-governmental organisations and awareness campaigns.
