Mysuru: 73rd Mahamastakabhisheka held at Gommatagiri

Mysuru: The 73rd ‘Mastakabhisheka’ of Bahubali was celebrated colourfully amidst cheers from Gommata devotees at Gommatagiri in Bilikere Hobli of Hunsur Taluk in the District on Sunday November 27.

The Mastakabhisheka was held post-Covid in the presence of Dr. Devendra Keerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Hombuja Jaina Matha in Shivamogga District.

After the rituals, devotees carried Kalashasas on their heads and performed abhisheka to the 18-feet-tall smiling Bahubali idol on top of the hill.

In all 18 types of abishekas were performed which included jalabhisheka, tender coconut water, sugarcane juice, turmeric, sandalwood, milk, kankachurna, aralu, sugar powder, rice flour, and honey among others.

Devotees who witnessed Gommata at every abhishekam chanted Virat Yogi Baahubali Maharaj Ki Jai and shouted ‘Virat Yogi Baahubali Maharaj Ki Jai’
