Tumakuru: In a shocking incident, lakhs of fish were killed as the lake was poisoned at Vadaghatta Village in Hutridurga Hobli in the District on the night of Saturday November 26 due to political rivalry.
Chandan, a native of Jodi Hosahalli Village, had taken the lake on lease for fish farming. Chandan’s wife Chaitra is a member of the Gram Panchayat and the miscreants have allegedly poisoned the lake for political vendetta.
Chandan had released 5.5 lakh fish hatchlings into the lake two months ago and had been rearing the fish day and night. The incident came to light in the morning when the villagers saw that all the fish in the lake had died due to alleged poisoning.
Kunigal Police visited the spot and registered a case in connection with the incident.
